NUS IHG Handball (Women): Temasek Hall defend title with 12–10 win over Raffles Hall

National University of Singapore, Thursday, January 22, 2015 — Defending champions Temasek Hall (TH) beat Raffles Hall (RH) 12–10 in the National University of Singapore (NUS) Inter-Hall Games Handball Championship.

Tan Bee Leng (TH #9) led her team with a game-high 10 goals, while Marie-Theres (RH #18) had five.

It was a highly commendable performance put up by both teams with their outstanding team chemistry and resilience throughout the match.

Both teams started off warily. Chen Xiao Juan (RH #5) found the breakthrough for her team, cutting into the gap of TH’s defence and scoring the first goal of the game. Ei Xue Han (#13) scored the first goal for TH with her sleek cut-in past her defenders....

NUS IHG Handball: Temasek Hall upset defending champs Raffles Hall 24–22 in overtime thriller

National University of Singapore, Thursday, January 22, 2015 — Temasek Hall (TH) pulled off an upset after a huge overtime effort to beat defending champions Raffles Hall (RH) 24–22 in the National University of Singapore (NUS) Inter-Hall Games Handball Championship. It was double happiness for TH as they swept both the men’s and women’s titles.

Ervin Sethi (TH #10) was the hero in overtime as his successful 9m shots broke the deadlock, giving Temasek the crucial lead with just a few minutes left on the clock.

Mervin Hui (RH #8) scored a game-high of six points, while Wilmer Tay (TH #7) and Ervin (TH #10) led all scorers with five points apiece a well.

Both teams started the match cautiously and settled down early in the game. RH put on a more dominant display as they managed to hold on to their lead from the first half....

NUS IHG Handball (Women): Kent Ridge advance to semi-final despite 5–9 loss to Eusoff

National University of Singapore, Friday, January 16, 2015 — Despite a 5–9 preliminary round loss to Eusoff Hall, Kent Ridge Hall secured a semi-final berth in the National University of Singapore (NUS) Inter-Hall Games Handball Championship, by virtue of a superior point differential.

Kent Ridge had previously defeated Temasek Hall 9–7, while Eusoff went down 3–10 to the latter. Eusoff needed a six-point victory to qualify for the semi-final but were not able to secure it.

Lim Shuen (#4) and Steffi Lim (#5) led Kent Ridge with two goals each. Eusoff’s Rachel Ho (#8) had a game-high four goals in the contest, with three in the first half alone. Eusoff custodian Carren Teo (#33) had a sterling defensive effort, including four saves in under two minutes of play in the first half....

National University of Singapore, Friday, January 16, 2015 — Kent Ridge Hall secured their tickets to the semi-final with a 20–15 win over Eusoff Hall in the National University of Singapore (NUS) Inter-Hall Games Handball Championship. Eusoff Hall missed out on the semi-finals with this loss.

Eugene Ho (#9) led Kent Ridge with five goals, while Eusoff’s Arun Kumar (#3) dominated with a game-high nine. He scored five in the first half alone.

Sheares Hall had previously defeated Kent Ridge 11–8, and Eusoff 10–8, to top their group in the preliminaries. After their losses to Sheares, both Kent Ridge and Eusoff had to secure a win in their matchup against each other to qualify for the semi-finals....
